Ex-Lax, Inc ( Famous Laxative Company ) sign by Senator Roy M. Goodman as President

Beautifully engraved certificate from the Ex-Lax, Inc Company issued in 1968. This historic document was printed by the De La Rue Banknote Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of an eagle on a perch. This item has the hand signatures of the Company’s President, Roy M. Goodman and Secretary, Bernard Goodman. This company has never had a liquidity problem. This is the first time we have had this certificate for sale and we only have one.

Mr. Goodman served as a member of the New York State Senate, representing the 26th district in Manhattan. He chaired the New York Senate's committee on investigations, taxation, and government operations, and the legislative commission on public-private cooperation. State Senator Goodman was also was a member of the senate's standing committees on rules, finance, education, cities, transportation, and crime and correction. He was vice chairman of the senate special committee on the culture industry and held the post of assistant majority leader.

Mr. Goodman graduated from Harvard College (A.B., 1951) and Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration (M.A., 1953). He was born March 5, 1930, in New York City. He is married, has three children, and resides in Manhattan, NY.

EX-LAX DESCRIPTION: IRRITANT OR STIMULANT LAXATIVES - ORAL

COMMON EX-LAX BRAND NAME(S): Ex-Lax, Feen-A-Mint, Neoloid, Senokot

EX-LAX SIDE EFFECTS: EX-LAX may cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rectal irritation, stomach cramps or bloating. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you experience: rectal bleeding, rapid heart rate, weakness, dizziness, fainting, sweating, skin rash, unrelieved constipation. EX-LAX may cause the urine to turn pink, red or brownish in color. Do not be alarmed. It is not harmful. Prolonged, frequent or excessive use of laxatives may lead to dependency. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

HOW TO USE EX-LAX: EX-LAX: Take each dose with a full glass of water or juice and drink plenty of fluids while taking this medication. Chewable tablets are to be chewed thoroughly. Tablets are to be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. Wafers are to be chewed. Laxatives should not be used in persons experiencing stomach cramps, nausea or vomiting.

EX-LAX USES: Irritant or stimulant laxatives are used to treat constipation and to clear the intestine before rectal or bowel examinations.

EX-LAX PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, swelling (edema), any allergies (especially to tartrazine). Castor oil is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Bulk producing laxatives are an alternative. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Consult your doctor before using any medication while breast-feeding.

EX-LAX DRUG INTERACTIONS: Because laxatives may interfere with the absorption of some medications, it is important to tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Avoid the use of dairy products or antacids within one hour of taking bisacodyl tablets. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

EX-LAX OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, muscle cramps, weakness, lack of feeling alert, or dry gums and eyes.

EX-LAX NOTES: To maintain normal bowel habits, it is important to drink plenty of fluids (4 to 6 eight ounce glasses a day), increase your intake of fiber and roughage and exercise regularly.

MISSED EX-LAX DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

EX-LAX STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom.
