This company was named after the book, Houseboat on the Styx was written by John Kendrick Bangs. It was a 1896 collection of humorous sketches featuring the “shades” or ghosts of famous literary characters. A Houseboat On The Styx" is a floating gentleman's club. The concept plays out figures such as Shakespeare, Darwin, Barnum, Dr. Johnson, even biblical figures, in humorous and witty banter amongst themselves regarding vogue-ish subjects of the day.
