 | | | Phoenix Insurance Company 1860's - Travelers / Citigroup | Beautifully engraved certificate from the Phoenix Insurance Company issued
in 1863 - 1865 during the Civil War. This historic document has an
ornate border around it with vignettes of an eagle with its wings spread and the Connecticut coat of arms. This item is hand signed by the Company’s President and Assistant Secretary and is
over 131 years old.
The company was merged into the Travelers Corporation in 1966. Travelers changed their name to Citigroup in 1998.
