Beautifully engraved certificate from the State of New York Bounties issued in 1865. This historic document was printed by the National Banknote Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of an allegorical woman with an eagle, shield and arms. This item is hand signed by the State Comptroller, Lucius Robinson, and is over 142 years old. Writing through the vignette. Lucius Robinson was elected Governor of New York from 1877-1880. Lucius Robinson (1810-1886) of Elmira, Chemung County, N.Y. Born in Windham, Greene County, N.Y., November 4, 1810. Member of New York state assembly, 1860; New York state comptroller, 1862-65, 1876; candidate for U.S. Representative from New York, 1870; Governor of New York, 1877-80; Died in Elmira, Chemung County, N.Y., March 23, 1886.
