 | | | Whitehead Aircraft - England 1917 | Beautifully engraved certificate from the XXX issued in 1917. This historic document has an
ornate border around it with vignettes of biplanes and an airfield and it has a large underprint of a British biplane. This item is hand signed by the Company's Founder, John Whitehead and Secretary and is over 88 years old.The certificate was issued to William Niven, Esquire for 400 shares.

Whitehead Aircraft did a good business during WWI, but when the war ended in 1918 the company stalled. The company tried to diversity into car manufacturing, but its vehicles (the Whitehead Majestic and Thanet) never reached full production, and the firm folded in 1920.
