Electric Traction Weekly, Volume 5 THE EMERY PNEUMATIC LUBRICATOR A novel method of lubricating and cleaning pneumatic equipment which has met with remarkable success in railway circles, both traction and steam, will be introduced at the American Street & Interurban Railway Association convention this year at Denver, and the members attending the convention will have an opportunity of seeing what can be accomplished in a practical way, in the way of decreasing the cost of cleaning and lubricating air equipment and brake cylinders, as well as the more delicate and sensitive portions of the unit switch groups using air as a motive power. Both electric roads at Denver have used this method for a year or so and are reporting very gratifying results. The system consists of exposing a soluble body of lubricant to the action of the compressed air and its moisture, the device containing the lubricant being located in the air supply pipe close to the main reservoir. All air passing has used this method for several years past and' has on its road at present a number of cars which have run over four years without cleaning triple valves or brake cylinders or oiling same, and it is estimated the saving is at least 75 per cent. This device and lubricant is manufactured by The Emery Pneumatic Lubricator Company, of St. Louis. Mo., formerly a Denver corporation.
